The Kimberly Rosario Perez
Making Connections
Memorial Scholarship
Look Beyond Yourself. Find Your Place in this World.
Graduating Sweetwater Union High School District seniors are invited to submit entries for a monetary award. This scholarship is aimed to recognize the student whose words and actions best match the values exemplified by former Sweetwater Union High School District alum, Kimberly R. Perez.
Kim graduated from Montgomery High School in 1994 with numerous honors: starting point guard for the basketball team, Homecoming Court Princess, ASB, etc. She later went on to receive degrees from UC Santa Cruz & The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, served in the Peace Corps, and was awarded a Fulbright Doctoral Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education.
She packed the years, until her untimely death in 2006, with countless friendships, much travel across the globe, a series of striking personal endeavors, many academic accomplishments, and great service to humanity.
Gender, creed, and ethnic barriers meant nothing to Kim, who spent her life making connections with as many people as she could. She left her mark as a stubbornly fearless and compassionate individual, who was positioning herself to make an even bigger contribution to the world community.
The application for the 2010-2011 school year is now available. The deadline for submission is April 29, 2011. Please regularly visit this site for updates regarding this scholarship.
